ANNOUNCING OUR NEW CONTEST FOR OCTOBER

The Contest
UNDEAD CREATURE (Up to 10 Hit Dice)
Create an undead creature, 10 hit dice or less. Include a backstory giving information on how/why the creature rises or is raised as an undead.

All entries should be submitted to lsj-contest@ucc-online.com. This address is only for contest submissions. Questions should be directed to lsj-activities@ucc-online.com.

The Rules
* Each player may submit up to three (3) undead creatures.
* All entries should be sent via email to the address listed above. Entries should either be included in the text of the email or attached as a Word document. Please do not PDF entries.
* Entries should be in the format given for creatures in Core Rulebook 3.
* Submission period ends at 11:59 pm ET on October 31st 2005.
* All entries become the property of the UCC.
* Entries must be original creations of the author. Real-world folklore is fair game to seek ideas for undead creatures, but avoid using any material published from other gaming sources, even if they are Open Gaming Content. The idea is to create something new, not to use someone else's work!

The Prize
The winner will receive an item tailored especially for their PC, so all entries must include the Name and class of the players LSJ PC. All players whose entries are accepted will receive LSJ Player Reward Points, redeemable in the future for campaign goodies.

The Judging
All entries will be judged on the following criteria:
* Game Balance
* Proper use of 3.5 rules
* Creativity
* Originality
* Spelling and Grammar
* Presentation (creature blurb, how is it created or raised, why does it rise as an undead?) This backstory should be both informative and entertaining.
* Completeness of entry

Good luck to all entrants!

Clarification

The purpose of the contest is to create a new kind of undead creature, not create a unique creature which happens to be undead using existing rules (that may be our contest next year). We realize that a lot of the basic undead types are open to adaptation and variants. This is okay, but if you go that route, make certain that there are enough differences that your creature is distinct from what is already out there. Originality counts, and if all you do is make one or two changes to an existing undead creature or undead template, you won't win points on originality or creativity.
